Ho Chi Minh City, June 22, 2023 Viessmann Climate Solutions, the leading German Climate Solutions provider, announces the opening of its new factory in Dong Nai, Vietnam. At the new manufacturing site, Viessmann will combine Germany’s renowned precision engineering with Vietnamese innovation and expertise, producing water purification and heating technology for the Southeast Asia region.

Thomas Heim, CEO of the Viessmann Climate Solutions says: “From Dong Nai, we will make a difference in the lives of many people now and going forward following our purpose of co-creating living spaces for generations to come in a region where the living spaces are highly threatened by air and water pollution. Air and water pollution are imminent challenges that Vietnam and the wider Southeast-Asian region are facing. In accordance with our purpose of creating living spaces for generations to come, we believe that with our products we can contribute to the quality of life for local people and communities while creating jobs locally at the same time.”

“This is our first manufacturing facility in Vietnam and we are thrilled with the speed and professionalism with which it was completed”, highlights Alexander Ziehe, Managing Director of Southeast Asia & Oceania at Viessmann. “Southeast Asia is a fundamental pillar in our international diversification strategy and we are excited to develop and widen our presence in this growth market based on local expertise and a joint vision,” he explains.

At the modern, well-equipped 2.286 square-metre site, Viessmann will produce Vitowell electric storage water heaters and Vitopure water purifiers. The plant is located in the Long Thanh district of the Dong Nai province – an excellent location given its logistical connectivity, its experienced labour as well as its closeness to key suppliers and the Viessmann sales team in Vietnam. By 2025, 100 employees will be employed at the site with a planned output of 300.000 devices within the first three years of operation. Viessmann wants to enable people in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to create an ideal feel-good climate at home to improve their health and well-being.

“As a brand, Viessmann is not only committed to the climate on our planet; we also take the lead in creating healthy living spaces in buildings through our integrated systems and solutions. With our new factory, we will accelerate our brand building in the region and provide end users with the right solutions for their homes,” Alexander adds.

The export of water heaters and purifiers will start in mid-2023. The whole Vietnam investment project will create local jobs in production, research and development, sourcing, and sales as well as further job opportunities throughout the supply chain in Vietnam. At the factory, Viessmann not only promotes German quality but also sustainable manufacturing in Vietnam with the investment project taking sustainability aspects into consideration.

“Sustainable manufacturing has been taken into consideration at Dong Nai from day one. We put maximum effort into establishing future-proof sustainable manufacturing step by step,” explains Ralph Biermann, Technical Managing Director Southeast Asia. “We not only use photovoltaic technology to generate electricity but also focus on the use of sustainable materials in our production and packaging processes,” he adds.

This includes the reduction of plastic waste by using water filters on-site for the team as well as sustainable energy generation for the site. On top of this, all Vietnam-produced solutions will be available without styrofoam packaging or filling material; production itself is made more sustainable by the use of environmentally friendly foaming agents for the insulation of water heaters.
